A Timeless Classic

After reading my sister's blog about loosing her watch it got me thinking (do you know that it hurts when you think too much) where was my watch.  This watch is very special and old I got this for Christmas when I was 10yrs old we both had one, it was made by Smiths and it had to be wound up at night. We used to leave them on the mantelpiece at night and dad would wind them up (we were too young to do it ourselves). Well believe it or not this said watch lay hidden for a number of years then one day I found it broken and sad, I took it to a repair shop and the little old man looked at it and was very excited he used to work on these watches when he was doing his apprenticeship. After a long conversation I left the watch in his care and he lovingly repaired it for me.

The watch still going strong after almost 46 yrs.

I wore it for a while and in my absentmindedness went into the sea with it on well you can guess what happened. I made another journey to the repair shop and again he fixed it for me it's still going although I do have difficulty getting straps for it as they have to be the old fashioned kind that you push through the bar and glue on.
I wonder if my sister still has her watch and if she has is it still going and is there anyone out there in blogger land with a watch older than mine ?. I call mine a timeless classic.

  1. I don't have an old watch but I do have a 61 year old Christmas Tree Fairy, does that count?
