Looking at the case dirty and I am ashamed to say it a little bit smelly what would it be like inside.
On inspection not too bad a little grubby everything there but would it work that is the question. This machine was bought in the late 70's it was second hand when I bought it and I think it cost me £29 which was a lot of money then. It is a Novum Precision Mark 3 and it weighs a ton. Time to get the rubber gloves on and give it a clean and check to see if it works, I cleaned the little black label which told me I bought it at Tullys Sewing Shop in 2 Holmeside Sunderland and it also had the telephone number on 57995.
Now comes the big test will it work plugged it in I didn't even have to thread it as it already had some in, put my foot on the peddle and YES it did work. Boy was I flabbergasted it's been stuck in the garage for the last 8 years and who knows when I last used it , the only thing that didn't work was the light but hey presto a trip to Tullys today and a new bulb bought. Just goes to show the oldies are the best and never judge a book by it's cover.
Oh do you want a sneak peak at the project.
There you go one border being sewn my newly cleaned machine oh and a chocolate bar well what is a girl to do you are not supposed to operate machinery while drinking but it doesn't say anything about eating chocolate.
I agree that chocolate is a necessity, Paula ;)
ReplyDeleteI just gave a good friend my Mother's 1960's sewing machine as her's broke and she was in the middle of a project. It still works like a charm!
As I said Pat the oldies are the best.
