Fab Night with Elton

My hubby sister and I went to see Sir Elton John at the Newcastle Arena last night and I was a little concerned about going because when he played at the concert for the Queens Diamond Jubilee concert he was not himself (well he was recovering from illness) so with a little trepidation we set off. We arrived in good time and had good seats the set looked fantastic and the lighting amazing.

Stage before show sorry for the quality of the photo's they were taken with my phone.

Prior to Sir Elton coming on 2cello were introduced boy were they amazing check them out on you tube (hope this link works).
Sir Elton came on at about 8.20  and we were not disappointed he played all the old favourites with the crowd singing the chorus that man may be in his 60's but he can still tinkle those ivories. When he introduced his band a huge applause rang out as his drummer Nigel Olsen is from my home city Sunderland.

The man himself on stage at the Newcastle Arena.

The band played until 10.35 then left the stage to return 5 mins later for an encore. Needless to say the hip that I hurt dancing to Come on Eileen a couple of weeks ago and was on the mend is now hurting again after dancing last night. Will I never learn also my hands were sore with all the clapping I was doing and Oh yes my throat was a bit hoarse this morning with all the shouting and singing. Was it all worth it the answer to that is YES YES YES would I do it again YES YES YES.

On the way out of Newcastle we crossed over the swing bridge and this gave us an opportunity to see the Olympic Rings on the Tyne Bridge. These have been put up for the Olympic Torch Relay which arrives in Newcastle on Friday 15th June then in Sunderland on Saturday the 16th June.

I am not sure if you can make out the Olympic Rings.
