A Gem of an Afternoon

It was time for another Golden Girls afternoon and seeing how it coincided with the Queens Diamond Jubilee we decided for one afternoon only we would be the Diamond Girls. As it was a bank holiday our partners would be participating in our festivities. We decided on an afternoon tea theme and dress in red white and blue to celebrate the occasion, once again we did ourselves and our Queen proud I was on sandwich and coronation chicken (well we had to to) duty Blanche was on her usual cake duty and Rose was on sausage rolls quiche and salad duty.

The table before food was added.
We opened a bottle of champers to toast the Queen paid our respects to Phillip and wished him a speed recovery then got on to our own festivities. Anyone following the golden girls afternoons know they do tend to follow along the same lines and we can usually pick up the thread from the last outing. Well things got very complicated because the men couldn't follow what was going on and we had to constantly keep updating them (they are worse than us). Why can men not follow two or three conversations at the same time? and why can they not keep up with things?.

Not a bad little spread

Instead of a Victoria sponge cake a Royal Elizabeth Cake.

Some nice royal fairy cakes.

A very nice Diamond Jubilee afternoon was had by all.

  1. I really enjoyed watching the Queen's Diamond Jubilee festivities on TV, Paula. She is such a remarkable woman. I hope Prince Philip has fully recovered!

Your Golden Girls luncheon looked scrumptious!
